Assalamualaikum wbt
Yesterday was the 1st day I started my routine as a fullltime housewife. It's not that I'm married. It's simply because I'm now taking care of the house, replacing Mak Tam for a while. She now is concentrating on her cute baby boy, Iman Solihin.
After everyone leaving for work and school, I'll start cleaning the kitchen, sweeping the floor, rearranging the books of Azizi and Aiman, doing the laundry, and watching the only available program in the morning, Malaysia Hari ini. At 12, I'll defroze either chicken, fish or whatever thing that is needed to prepare the lunch. As for yesterday, I made ikan tilapia bakar with my own style. And for today, it's only chicken curry. It wasn't hot as I wanted. The chilly boh (blended) was running out of stock. I was too lazy to blend some more. Whatever it is, it really suits Azizi's and Aiman's taste. Not hot!
I watch TV a lot within this few days. It reminds me to my habit when I was 14-15 years old. Hmm... It was about 7-8 years ago. But it seems just happened a year ago. At that moment, I liked watching Chinese serial dramas at 7pm everyday. I still can list down a few of them: The Good Old Days, The Stepping Stone, Fei Mau, The Police Academy and a few more. My mum even addressed me as Hantu Cina for being so into the dramas very much. But now I'm no longer a drama addicted. I'm now an observer. I observe almost everything about Malaysia. From the people, the culture, the weather and even up to the politics and crisis.
What attracts me most is the people. And to be specific, the women. And to be more specific, the Muslim women. Women nowadays put on make up to appear beauty and eligent. They look happy to be the center of attractions. I sometimes get confused with their mind. Some of them are wearing hijab but still are proud to be up-to-date with this make up thing. Don't they know the do's and don'ts that a muslim woman should apply in daily life? Well, maybe I can say it's still okay as long as they are still covering their aurah (parts of the body that should be covered). But what about the non-hijabis? Can we say that they are putting themselves at higher risk to be 'murdered' by irresponsible men? Can't they think that hijab can protect them from harms or at least lower the risk to be raped or what so ever bad things desired by men?
Back to the make up issue. To make it simple, I just want to drag your attention on aurah issue again. Since we know that for women the should-be-covered area is the whole body except the face and the palms. But it doesn't mean that we can simply make our face up with colors and blushers here and there. This is what we call 'tabarruj' or 'menunjuk-nunjuk' or showing off. The same goes for perfume. Rasulullah once said that if a woman went out of her house with perfume around and had attracted men to look at her, she is no different with the prostitutes (sharbutah = wanita penzina). But what is happening around us is totally different. They are proud to be 'in' make up and feel that they are left behind if they don't follow the trend.
Err... I lost my words already. While writing this on, I keep doing another job actually. So the result is, I mess up my mind and can't even think of a word to continue the topic. Well, maybe I can conclude that, "Girls, be proud of your originality. " Make up is just a thing that runs you out of your originality. There is always hikmah behind the reason of make up prohibition. Think about it.
Now I'm seriously totally empty. Why??
p/s: Why can't we just accept our natural beauty?

bosan dengan biochemistry, saye singgah ke sini. :)
natural beauty?
1. mungkin sebab media? umum berpendapat, tanpa solekan, wanita seperti tiada tarikan. bibir perlu dicalit dengan lipstik, blusher perlu disapu menyala, eye shadow jangan lupa.
2. mungkin sebab, tak ramai yang tahu hukum hakamnya. barangkali. kesempatan memperoleh ilmu dan mencari ilmu sebenarnya ada. tapi pilihan itu, tanyakan pada dada.
saye? x macho la bermake up segale!
It is a nature of human beings to love beauty and sometimes their natural beauty can't fully satisfy them. If they do, they wont fork a loads of money just only for make ups or any possible treatment available in this world just to make them look more appealing than before.
If you notice my dear Sarah. Look at our TV commercials in our nation nowadays. You will see a lots of beauty product advertisement. From well known product like Olay, Loreal to cheapskate Natasha, Felisa cosmetic, Milah, Temah, Bedah etc. Mcm cendawan tumbuh selepas hujan.
Most importantly, inner beauty is far more appealing and attracting as ever. Apa guna cantik luaran seperti top model, jika hari hari wajah yang ditayang mengundang saham dosa hari2

bz betik menulis blog even kat mesia yek..hekhek..takkan nak terperap kat rumah je kot...saje singgah amik nafas kat sini...
cik ni tentu tak pakai perfume kan,tak pakai bedak, agak2nyela..
cuba cik ingat2kan kat kakak ,kakak ipar, kakak sepupu, kakak jiran cik, pasal isu yg cik sampaikan ni..at least tak terkubur dlm ruang cyber ni kan?tumpang lalu...
hmmm...mekap lama2 buat laki tak larat nak tunggu bila nak kuar...
sebab tu laki suka natural beauty:D
salam sarah. dah balik mesia ye. bestnye. kirim salam pada keluarga ok=)
tentang make up tu, since i never make-up-ing, sekadar bedak baby je pun menempek kat muka =) pernah jugak ckp pada kakak sendiri, tak minat la make up2, tak macho la kan,mcm ade bahan kimia kat muke tu setebal2nye. tapi last2 kene sound, akak kate, jangan kutuk2, karang ko dah keje, kene la jaga penampilan, takkan muke sememeh je, bukan nak kene make up lebih2 pun. sekadar bedak dan listick nipis, nak cover bibir yang pucat. lepas tu terus terdiam. huhu. (still, my kakak just adviced me on simple make up, bukan yang melampau2 tu)
So, takyah mekap tebal2 pun. lek2 sudeyh. macho sket. lalalala =D
oh..saya penah gak duk make up2 masa zaman2 bengong dulu. The truth is, maybe sebab terikut2 dgn kawan2. Especially kalau dah kerja kat ofis. Kakak2 kerani kat tempat saya dulu tiap2 hari duk suruh saya make up. diorang kata saya comot.ehehhe
Bila dah make up, rasa cam tak best la pulak.la ni lagi la malas nak make up. Comot pon comot la.Janji perangai tak comot.
sy suka natural beauty.. lebih jujur :)

Aini:
ks stuju dgn awk aini. ramai wanita zaman skrg ni x rasa lengkap kalau x de make up. plus, x ikut trend katanya. sebenarnye utk nampak cantik, fresh n elegant tu, ada byk cara. cantik bukan dinilai pd luaran sj. tambah2 pulak kalu make up nya berlebihan. adui. x larat tgk. yg lg memelikkn, klu yg bermake up ni x reti make up sbnarnya. 'pelik' la pulak jd nya. hmm.. ni la yg ks dpt observe semenjak 2 menjak d msia ni
Azwan:
i agree with ur 2%. sometimes they just dont satisfy with their natural beauty n want to be more of it. n now, with d roles of advertisement, they are like craving to hv them n competing with their fellows to show who is more beauty. but for me, advertisements are just advertisements. if we run for them, we should admit that we are the slave to them. they wont stop advertising. thats their jobs. n the jobs wont stop on 1 product. there will always b more n more afterwards..hmm...
Anon:
salam.setakat berbedak tu, mistila sy pakai bedak. tp make up n perfume tolak tepi. rimas tgk org pakai make up yg kadang2 tu smpai x kena dgn keadaan. tp sape kata x pakai perfume kita x wangi? mandila wungi2. n klu kita gunakn shower foam yg sama for quite a while, badan kita ada bau yg wungi jgk tau. klu kita exercise, muka nmpak fresh, so x yah make up2 dh. isu nk sy dh bincang2 dh dgn mak, kakak, mak2 sedara n cousins. huhu. alhamdulillah. my family members sume not go for make up. wkt kawin je la kot! huhuhu
May:
ohooo..nnti la sy carikn yg mmg naturally beautiful n recommend kt awk yek ;)
Aizu:
betul apa akak awk kata tu. setakat bedak asas (foundation) tu ok la. bukan ada beza pun kn. n utk bibir plak, guna lipstick light color udah la kn. or lip balm yg boleh mosturize bibir cukup la. x yah la pakai yg shining glowing ing ing ing apatah lg tu toksah la kn. yg tu sah2 menguja org utk tgk bibir kita.
oh. i just love natural beauty :)
Mimi:
eh..comot eh dulu2? hehehe. ada batasannya utk kita nampak cantik n kemas. pendek cerita, set kn yg limitnya adalah: Tak over sampai menarik perhatian. kan.
POSKAD YANG CANTIK SUDAH SAMPAI! sayang mimi!
Dr. Am:
ok set. nnti sy carikn utk kamu yg naturally beautiful jgk. misti ada punya :)
Ryn:
waa....rindu sama ryn jgk! setuju2. kadang tu, kalau kena tunggu kawan yg jenis make up ni, sy sampai rsa moody plak. ye la kn. x pasal2 kita terbuang masa sbb dia. klu hari2 biasa ni pun makan masa bermake up lama2, nnti kawin bape lama la pulak dia nk di make up kn yek? hehehe. stuju tu. kalau light perfume tu, kira ok la. jgn la smpai klu kita masuk je 1 bilik tu , lecture hall ke, ofis ke apa2 la, sume org tertoleh dek penangan perfume yg x semestinya semua org suka bau tu.. huhuhuhu :D
philo: a woman is never more beautiful than the day she is born.
faith: except perhaps the day she enters heaven?
bio: people have been using natural make-up and perfumes for 100,000 years, various clays, ochre, plant juices, animal fats, etc. for many reasons including "beauty" but usually more mundane purposes (insect bites, sunburn, camoflage, skin allergies, warmth in cold water, etc.).
personal: I appreciate a very small amount of natural/organic perfume on a lady. I really don't like perfume overdose though, better to have none than to smell like a chemical factory. Make up also minimal, since it interferes with skin functions.
Daud:
Insya Allah u'll find 1 suitable lady of urs :)
uh!
cik ati tak pakai mekap :))
biasalah dayang senandung :D
nyet.
CFF: Most importantly, inner beauty is far more appealing and attracting as ever. Apa guna cantik luaran seperti top model, jika hari hari wajah yang ditayang mengundang saham dosa hari2
Itu yg betul. Sarah nak cakap regarding external, but the skin (which is dead, like the hair) is replaced continuously. Why get so excited about the dead parts of the human body??? Is not the living heart soul and mind far more significant?
Cover up the dead hairs (tudung/hijab) with plant/petroleum fibers is halal? but cover up the dead skin cells on the face with powders/creams of plants or petroleum is haram?.
oh dd, from where u got such discussion? well, it needs a long discussion abt it. but back to the basic, covering aurah is a must. obligatory for all. no excuses to run away from it. wallahu a'lam..
Sarah, always cover your aurah, that's a rule in the Quran. It's your blog and your world, and I'm waiting to go to Crescent City and the mountains, so can't debate now.
I do wish some lady would be sensible and marry me soon, instead of wasting time on other things. But I have to let God lead in this matter. So I may seem a bit sad.
DD, always do n will forever do cover my aurah. its a must. do take care ok :)
Sarah,
I accomplished my journey, finished it with a hundred mile walk from Oregon. Very cold swimming at the Crescent Beach, managed to swim 100 m around the Earth on the anniversary of my father's birthday.
:)
you take care too.
Daud
Hmm, after thinking about this, I'm wondering if a natural scent might be ok.
Sarah, what do you think about this latest idea:
"Parfum de durian". The magnificent aroma of the beloved durian...
So romantic la
:)
